Ibericorama 65-66 In the Land of Mudéjar

Granada, Spain

Yes we were immersed in the Alhambra with lots of tour groups….but let’s talk about the Mudéjar flavor of Granada. (Mudéjar refers to the group of Muslims who remained in Iberia in the late medieval period the despite the Christian reconquest.  It is also a term for Mudéjar art which was much influenced by Islamic art, but produced typically by Christian craftsmen for Christian patrons.).  The moorish culture remains to this day and there are infinite viewing opportunities of Mudéjar architecture and tile work.
The most relaxing moments was the viewing of the Alhambra from Mirador de San Nicolás and from our room at Hotel Palacio de Santa Ines and venturing away from the tourist core where the locals hang out.  Leaving town in our rent a car with the scooter guy wanting payment for his directional assistance was also memorable.
Alas, no art to share, but more ahead in Ronda.
